Butternut squash (Cucurbita moschata Duchesne) is a plant of the Cucurbitaceae family, widely cultivated for its edible fruit. One of the five most commonly cultivated species of squash.

Common names: butternut squash, nutmeg squash, sucrine.

Sow (two to three seeds in pots 3.5 centimeters deep) from March to May, before transplanting to the garden after the last frosts (mid-May).
Butternut squash are harvested when fully ripe and eaten cooked.
