Capsicum annuum

The thick flesh has a sweet flavor and turns red when ripe.

A characteristic vegetable of ratatouille, pepper is native to Central America. Rich in vitamins and fiber, it can be grown both in a garden and in a pot. The latter must have a minimum depth of 30 cm.
Sowing peppers

The sowing of peppers is similar to that of tomato but it is more difficult to achieve insofar as a minimum temperature of 25 ° C is necessary. To be able to transplant in June, sowing must be done in March. In addition, growth is relatively slow. That's why it's easier to work from commercially available buckets.

The planting is done at the end of May - beginning of June in order to have a soil close to 15 ° C. The plants should be spaced about 50 cm apart. These can be combined with tomato, eggplant or basil plants.

The soil must be enriched with compost at the time of planting.
During cultivation, a fertilizer can be brought when the first peppers appear. These are formed one month after planting.

Watering must be abundant during planting. Then, it must be regular in order to have a floor always wet. To maintain this humidity, it is possible to add a mulch like cardboard for example; this will reduce the frequency of watering.

Peppers can be harvested one month after planting, but if you wait, they will turn red, yellow or orange depending on their variety.
